Apparently built by someone well know on off roaming scene so wondered if anyone here knows it?

A friend of mine is interested. Any common faults to look out for - similar to Jimnys?

Cheers
Mark

It's got a Leigh Lift. Built by Leigh Catherick. Ive had one for 15 years. love it. Cruises on the Motorway. Fits 35s easily. I've had 3 LJs built by him, still have 1 & the Vitara.

Looking for a nice clean and straight LHD Jimny..... Not any more.
Got one that seems to have been magnatized and driven through the "Big Jimny Bits" parts stores too quickly so it missed a few items.

Is there something special about a Leigh lift?

It's a complex bare chassis chassis build.... A new chassis is built above the old one, front, middle & rear, then the old chassis sections are cut away but all the steering and suspension stays pretty much factory stock (longer rear trailing arms) so they still handle pretty much as stock.... Considering the higher cog. Stiffer springs are advisable. I have OME, which are too soft so compensate with adjusting my Leda stocks to almost as stiff as they'll go for the road.
Engine & transmission is moved up.
Belly clearance is huge.
Like I say, I love mine and I'm trying to get the builder to move the whole front chassis forward 3" so I can fit 38s.

As a cost guide when I got mine done about 15 years ago it was a 2 week build of about £1,800 labour alone.
These guys use them as their daily drivers and their off-roaders driving to France & Bach for long weekends off-roading always driving fast and hard and the vehicles take it. Drive it before you buy just to see how it handles. If you like it go for it.
You can find the builder Leigh Catherick easily enough.
