Had the same problem earlier this week when I drove my new Jimny 350 miles back home - kept stopping at every other filling station. The problem is, in Wales, most of the filling stations close at 9 or 10pm in which case, you are on your own!

I just purchased a couple of 20L jerry cans and will take those on long trips in future.

Hello there, I just read this thread about expedition tanks.

Well what I did is not called easy way, but I decided to share my aux tank with you guys anyway.

The tank is about 70 liters, and is located behind the rear axle, I got 6 cm bodylift so extra space is between body and chassis.
I removed the exhaust at the rear, and it is now on the side.

Total capacity is now about 110 liters, wich is awesome.
I use a fuel tank switcher from a Ford, it switches the fuel pumps, tank gauge and piping, with only one button, so you can even switch tanks when driving.
