You are not driving in 4 wheel drive on the road are you?

The Jimny system is part-time 4wd with no centre differential. It should never be driven in 4WD on good surfaces such as tarmac. Because of the lack of centre diff it needs loose surfaces to release tension in the drive train. The road is virtually never slippery enough to use 4WD

You should NOT ever drive a Jimny on a hard surface in 4x4. It will destroy the transfer box and the front cv joints. 4x4 is ONLY for loose or slippery surfaces. 2x4 for road use.

i would advise you to find some mud or loose gravel put it 4wd
give it some throttle and spin the wheels a few times
this should release any transmission wind up you may have caused ;)

If you put manual hubs on, and they are locked in, can you still drive in 2x4 without damaging anything?

Yes, the front shafts rotate but it's fine. The cheapest Suzuki SJ and LJ had fixed hubs and were like this all the time

Yes mads you can. I do that with mine if i am hopping between fields with a trailer on. The buttons still work just as they should to disengage the drive in the transfer box then it is just the wheels pushing the front driveline components round instead of the engine.
