Lambert wrote: I have been busy. I have reworked my infotainment array! Well more accurately I have replaced my oak single din infill panel with a substantial aluminiumiumiumiumiumium extrusion and repositioned my phone holder away to the passenger side giving better clearance and a cleaner aesthetic. I have to trim it in something black yet as the silver is a bit distracting, once done I'll bob a picture on.

Well done Lambert!
:cheer:

Lambert why not trim it in some leatherette rather than paint it? It would be more touchy-feely trimmed

Err because it's not a 1970s BL product? Sorry that was mean. I was thinking of something with a bit of a texture but only very lightly to match the factory trim?

...Actually, black crackle finish paint could look good (very 1970s BL :P ) - but its difficult to get an even finish with that. :)

You could always get brave and put your skills to engine-turned aluminium.... Very Bugatti

I'm sure if you approach some (eBay) suppliers of leatherette or faux leather asking for grey or slate-grey samples - they'd send you some.
Find out which one is the nearest match to the existing trim and buy a small quantity.
All you'd need then is a some contact adhesive, coat each surface VERY sparingly and evenly... and the job is almost done

Some HERE sold by the half metre.

Theres also fancy diamond embossed stuff so you could have that 1970s quilted look :P

I'm thinking of getting rid of the fabric on the armrests in the doors and replacing it with something that matches the different half-leather seat cushions that I fitted

I was thinking of black chalk board paint. Something very flat but with a definite texture akin to the plastic.

@ Lambert use a small gloss foam roller
use any thick paint you have to get acquired texture then spray over it with desired colour ;)

Is this the sort of texture you want?

Kinda but even finer. If i could line it with a 600 paper and paint it that wouldn't be far off. Ooh have had an idea, fine wet and dry. Hang on I'll be back.
