Rear Window wash leaks on a slope ? cure. was created by teafortwo0789
When I park the Jimny nose up on a slope, the rear washer leaks and siphons off all the washer fluid, leaving me with an empty bottle.\!!! :( On a previous topic I complained at the rather small washer bottle. Any thoughts as to the cure / cause?B)

There should be a spring loaded one way valve near to the rear nozzle, to stop the fluid running back to the tank, it takes a bit of pressure to let the fluid out, to stop the jet dribbling.
Sounds like it is missing or the spring has given up.

I dont know exactly where it is I'm afraid....

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there :)

Makes sense. From what you say it sounds as though there will be a valve inside the water jet 'rod' / nozzle. I'll take it to bits and have a look and report back.

Many thanks. Tony aka (teafortwo0789)

I would have thought it was in inline valve, if there isn't one, perhaps you could get one from a motor factors and fit it inside the rear door.

the 'valve' is in-line at the rear window wash/wipe ... little pipe behind rear door cover.. cost me a few quid from Suzuki.

Halfrauds do a small inline non return valve, about £2.50

EDIT: www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servl...-1_categoryId_165746

3/16" or about 8mm sounds about right?

There is a very simple solution to this that works very very well. When I set about replacing the non return valve as discussed I had to buy a pack of two. Use both! Fit two non return valves straight after each other about an inch apart. I thought the resistance would stop it working or reduce the flow, but it doesn't. Stopped the leaking and it hasn't leaked since. You will not believe how long your washer bottle lasts after doing this. :)

I was wondering if I can put the valve at the same tube but into the engine bay, not at the rear door. Theoretically, should be the same thing. The idea is not to remove the door plastic cover. Thank you!

I did exactly that - 2 in-line valves near the washer bottle. Worked great!

I already ordered a new one from ebay for £2. I will do the job soon, hopefully. Thanks for the reply.
