Call Suzuki First was created by helijohn
I keep getting pestered with emails to
Call Suzuki First
with a freephone number for theft or accident before calling the insurer.
Has anybody used this service? I can't believe it is free!! Nothing's for nothing these days.

I have not used such a service and in all honesty I don't see what they are going to be able to offer me that i can't deal with directly via the normal channels. I am a cynical old git though so I could have it wrong.

It doesn't cost you anything directly, it all comes out of the claim. You should check the terms of your insurance before you sign up for one of those services though because the insurance company probably insists that you use one of their approved repairers or rental companies.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.

Don't forget that no matter what the insurance company may want it is your car and you can get it repaired at a facility of your choice, approved or not. After all the approval scheme is less about providing a comprehensive meaningful repair than it is about the facility and the insurer having a mutually rewarding relationship. The entire insurance industry is a corrupt mess emboldened by being a compulsory provision of driving a car.

The question is do I use it or not though?

No. Its another level of middle man trying to get a cut and in the process confusing and adding complications.

I agree, and its a big NO from me!

I had a renault megane (oops!) and that had loads of stuff in the 'accident management pack' about calling them in the event.

Basically i see it as a money making exercise for themselves. If i was the dumbest driver about and had no friends who know anything, then it may be useful. Otherwise... standard roadside recovery is plenty enough to get me out of any problems :-)

is it actually suzuki themselves touting it?

oh, and another thing... if it adds to the cost of your insurance claim (and how would it not?), then it will cost you more at renewal time i suspect. Insurance is enough of a con as it is without enterprises like that!

I assume it is Suzuki sponsored and it's a good point about renewal.
