Ok you lovely people any computer experts help me out
My daughters hp envy laptop keeps dropping out the wifi and not connecting again everything else in the house connects and stays connected fine, but we have trouble keeping her laptop connected. I have checked for new updates for the wifi on the hp site but there is none, and done all the tests on the laptop in the control centre bit, also it states the wifi adapter is working correctly even if it's not connected
Its not just my BT internet it happens to her when she is at home on Virgin internet as well, would a wifi dongle be the best bet? It's out of warranty now so any help would be appreciated
Thanks

No expert here but had similar probs in the past..
Botttom right hand corner of the screen you should see the wifi indicator.
Right click on this and you should get options for troubleshooting and network and sharing centre.
Try going through these and see what they find.
Also have a look in your router settings to see if the hp is being allowed through.

Yeah I have been through all the wifi settings looked on you tube and found some things to try in the wifi 'advanced' settings, but haven't checked the router but sometimes it connects ok for about an hour other times it's about 15 minutes so it does connect but just keeps disconnecting and not reconnecting
Cheers

Also have a look around the setings and logs of the firewall programme on the hp lappy.
There is a site I use for pc issues called major geeks. The guys on there are very helpful so try there as well.

Are you still using the router supplied with the broadband package you are on?
They normally supply the basic one just to get you started.
I changed mine to a better one, no connection problems anymore and faster download speed.

Have you tried changing the channel within the router settings ?
there is also a programme called inSSIDer you can download and install. ( do a google)
it will show whats broadcasting on your network and tell you if you need to change a channel.
